I hired Justin Burt of JCB Pro Landscape to provide landscaping service. The business name JCB Pro Landscape is not registered with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and may just be randomly made up and changed at some point, but it is what he was using at the time I hired him. When I first hired him, Justin did a little bit of work but then asked for a few hundred dollars up front to secure the rest of the work. After that, he missed two promised appointments and disappeared for weeks without a word. In the meantime, he left my yard a complete mess from the work he had done originally, which was incomplete. I assumed he just skipped town with my money, but one day he finally called me to tell me he was going to be there, and this third appointment schedule he kept. The quality of work when he finally showed up was acceptable. I later realized some corners were cut and he spent an unusual amount of time at the house, but in the end, the job was of a fair quality.

Then, I decided to hire him again for some more work, and that is when the real nightmare began. He had a truck deliver materials for the job, creating yet another mess in my yard. This would not have been so bad if he had actually showed up when he said he was going to. Three missed appointments and then radio silence. A couple of weeks later, he finally called and told me he was going to come over that weekend, but again, he never showed up. This time, my deposit just went into his pocket, as I got very little out of it because no service was ever provided.

Eventually, I realized that he had no intention of honoring his written and verbal agreement for services for which I had paid, and I spent many hours cleaning up the mess he made. At least I realized that I could do most of what I hired him to do on my own, but if nothing else, I would in the future make sure to hire someone who has an established verifiable reputation, instead of learning a lesson the hard way about people who are just out to scam others for a quick buck.

I have since purchased a new security system for my house. I still like to think my neighborhood is safe, but this experience was a wake up call. Not only would I not recommend doing business with Justin Burt, but I wish I never associated with him at all.
